Alton sites are work areas

The Alton project sites are open only to Alton staff and approved contractors. Trespassing on the sites is strictly prohibited. Signage at the sites shares this information with the public.

Injunction information

Trespassing at the Alton sites has been an ongoing matter of concern. After attempting to pursue other options, we applied to the Supreme Court of Nova Scotia for an injunction to ensure we have safe, unobstructed access to our work site. The Court subsequently agreed with the application and issued an Order which expressly prohibits trespass.

Given our recent decision to decommission the Alton Project, we will not be pursuing the Court matter regarding trespassing at the project’s river site. The matter has been resolved by the parties. It is important to note that as agreed by the parties, the injunction for the river site remains in place and will continue to be in effect until the decommissioning is completed. That means that for safety and security reasons only Alton staff and approved contractors may access the project’s river site during the decommissioning phase.
