New natural gas storage fact sheet

Posted on November 08, 2016

The Canadian Gas Association has published a new fact sheet on natural gas storage in Canada.

The fact sheet explores the different types of storage facilities across Canada, describes storage locations and volume capacity, explains the role that storage plays in ensuring a reliable supply of natural gas and provides an outlook of storage levels ahead of the upcoming heating season.

At the Alton Natural Gas Storage Project near Stewiacke, NS, natural gas will be stored about one kilometer underground in salt caverns. The ability to store natural gas in Nova Scotia will help ensure more supply is available for natural gas consumers here.
