We look to create shared value through mutually beneficial partnerships with community organizations concentrating on our three core areas: Healthy and Safe Communities, Bright Futures and Environmental Champions.

1st Gays River Scouts 

The experience of a lifetime takes place in the summer of 2017 when Scouts from the 1st Gays River troop attend the Canadian Scout Jamboree. Alton is pleased to support the Scouts attending the Jamboree, the first time this important national gathering has been held in Nova Scotia.

Stewiacke and District Volunteer Fire Department

Alton has funded the purchase of life-saving equipment, including a new rescue boat, ensuring that the department can continue to provide emergency services to the Stewiacke community and  surrounding areas.

Canoe to the Sea video 

Alton provided support to the Canoe to the Sea Society in 2016 to develop the video in response to a request from the organization. Each year, the Society hosts an annual fun marathon race and recreational paddle on the Shubenacadie River. 

Brookfield Whing Ding

The Brookfield Whing Ding approached Alton in 2016 to support the fireworks display at the annual family fun event. The Whing Ding is a fundraiser for the Brookfield Athletic Association, which sponsors sports and recreation programs in Brookfield.

IKANAWTIKET Environmental Incorporated

Alton is supporting a two-year study on the Shubenacadie River to collect baseline water quality and biodiversity habitat information, as well as document the historical and current use of the river system.  Read the news release to learn more about the study.

NSLC Adopt-a-Stream

Alton proudly collaborates with the Brookfield Adopt-A-Stream program in refurbishing the natural fish run the area. Seeking to improve the quality of aquatic habitat for fish and other wildlife, NSLC Adopt-A-Stream helps community groups care for small waterways in Nova Scotia.

Brookfield Fire Department

The Brookfield Fire Department’s purchase of six 50-foot lengths of fire discharge hose was funded by Alton. We recognize that the department’s fire protection, emergency, and safety educational services are essential to Brookfield and nearby communities.

South Colchester Minor Hockey Association

Alton recognizes the value of organized sports to bring a community together. We have sponsored the creation of a skating development program for young athletes, partnering with the South Colchester Minor Hockey Association.

Brookfield Junior B Elks Hockey Club & Truro Atom AA Bearcats Alton

In addition to the South Colchester Hockey association, Alton also sponsors community level hockey hockey in Brookfield and Truro, including the Brookfield Junior B Elks Hockey Club and the Truro Atom AA Bearcats. Alton funds the purchase of ice rental, hockey equipment, and travel costs.
